YOU NEED A FRIEND

Surely, you need a friend; and I need a friend too. That is why many of us not only make friends with people who are close to us, we also seek to make friends with complete strangers. The long distance unseen friends we refer to as PEN PALS.

PEN PALS, as their name implies, are friends we get to know through writing: they are PALS (FRIENDS) we relate to through the PEN! Or on the Internet. PEN PALS are useful people to have. Pen Pals, wherever they are, help to foster unity and cordial relationships between peoples of different colours, cultures and countries. Through our Pen Pals and e-friends we can gain a knowledge of the various lands and civilizations.

When the occasion arises and we travel to our Pen Pal’s country, we have the golden opportunity to meet in- person a friend whom we have always known through letters. What a happy union it is when Pen Pals meet face to face for the first time. On some occasions, Pen Pals have been known to be of help in obtaining travel permits and visas into other countries, while admission into foreign higher institutions have been facilitated by Pen Pals and e-friends.

On very rare instances, marriage proposals have been conducted through letters and some Pen Pals have ended up becoming husbands and wives. Only GOD can tell what a Pen Pal relationship will turn out to be in the end.

The desire to have a friend, either at close quarters or at a distance, is borne out of the fact that we human beings are social animals. No one of us can exist as an island. We need each other.

Friends are people we cannot do without. Even when we quarrel and part with a close friend, we do miss them occasionally. It is natural.

It is in the nature of the LORD GOD our CREATOR to be amiable and to make friends. Like CREATOR like CREATURES. Thus, our desire to make friends began way back in the GARDEN of EDEN where GOD made friends with Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve failed GOD.

We also do fail our friends and our friends occasionally fail us as well. Human friends, including Pen Pals, will fail us. Some friends may desert us in our very hour of need, while a few friends may even betray us or deny us. FRIEND FAILURES, as we wish to call it, is human, because all human beings are imperfect.

That is why we all need a FRIEND Who will stand with us and by us when the going gets tough. We need a FRIEND Who will not laugh at us when we fail or fall. We require a FRIEND Who not only understands us, but Who also is able and willing to rescue us from all the problems of this life. We all need A FRIEND FOR ALL SEASONS.

The Only FRIEND Who can be as constant as the Northern Star must be the one Who has never sinned in all His Life. All Friends Who originate from the earth are sinful. But there is a FRIEND Who is DIVINE: HE came down from Heaven. JESUS IS HOLY AND DIVINE, make friends with HIM today.

THE MIND OF GOD

It was the legendary Bob Dylan, the musician, who said something to this effect: 'You've got to worship something. If you will not worship the Almighty GOD, you'll end up worshiping the something less than GOD.' In other words, if you decide not to worship The ALMIGHTY CREATOR, you will definitely end up worshiping the Altiny Creature.
Neglecting and refusing to worship the Almighty GOD, some people have opted to worship the altiny creatures. The Creatures that most human beings have chosen to devote their worship to include Possessions, Pleasures and Pride, Position and Power. The adherents of Possessions will do anything to acquire Money and what Money can buy.
The worshipers of Pleasures will spend and be spent to obtain "Wine, Women and Song". Other people are seeking Fame, Glory, Honour, Position by all means and they do not mind whose horse is gored or how many people they destroy to attain their goal in life.
Are you worshiping the true GOD or are you pretending to worship the true GOD? Just as there are only two types of cars in the world (Mercedes Benz and the others),there are only two Gods in the universe: the true GOD and the false gods. How do we recognize the true GOD?
The TRUE GOD is Holy and righteous and HE promotes Holiness and Righteousness in the lives of HIS worshipers. Just like a true Father does not want the destruction of any wayward child (but that the bad child should repent and return to the house), the True GOD will do anything and everything to get HIS "off-side" child back home. The true GOD loves HIS creatures but hates their sins.

While the other gods sit on their various thrones at the different points in the universe, dishing out rules, regulations and rituals to their, followers at a longdistance, the True GOD cares so much for HIS people and HE is so personal enough that HE performed the greatest miracle ever. HE left HIS throne and robes and put on human flesh in order to better relate and communicate with mankind. The True GOD loves HIS people and HE is gracious to them.
The best the other gods can offer is pity, mercy and sometimes compassion. However, the True GOD really loves. HIs other Name is Love.
It was LOVE that brought GOD down to earth; It was Love that clothed GOD in human flesh. It was Love that shared GOD's Life with Man. It was Love that shed HIS Blood on the Cross of Calvary to save you and I.
It was Love that rose again from the grave to justify us before GOD. It was Love that ascended into Heaven to become our Intercessor, Advocate and Solicitor at the Courts of Heaven.
Why would you not examine the GOD you are worshipping now. Does HE love you. Can HE guarantee you eternal life while you are still here on this side of eternity? Woorship the KING of Kings and the LORD of Lords: His Imperial Majesty, JESUS the SAVIOUR.

You can pray this Prayer

"Oh LORD GOD, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus died and rose again for my sins. Take away my sins and send the HOLY SPIRIT to dwell in me and direct my life from this day henceforth.Thank you for saving me.
I pray in JESUS NAME".
(Amen)

MORE IS NEVER ENOUGH

MORE IS NEVER ENOUGH

Many years ago I graduated from the University with my first degree only to discover that I did not have even a suit to boast of. With the Convocation (Graduation Ceremony) fast approaching I must have a nice suit on which to place my hard earned academic gown. So, I began saving up for the suit. A week before the Great Convocation, my custom made suit was ready. It was a black suit that was bound to look nice with a white shirt and a black tie.

After the glorious convocation, I discover that the same black suit had to be worn to special occasions, Church meetings and people’s weddings. Just one black suit. I felt that I needed other colours of suit. In no time I added cream, blue, purple, white and striped suits. My wardrobe was a mini boutique for men!

Now I have many suits. But the only limiting factor is that no matter how many suits I have, I must not and I dare not wear more than one suit at a time. To do otherwise would arouse the interest of my friends who might want to organize deliverance service for me. For it is only a crazy man who will wear more than one suit at a time.

As an Assistant Lecturer, I envied my friends who had Television sets. So, I prayed to have one too. By the time I purchased my Black and White TV, my neighbour had bought himself a Colour TV. So I went into prayer and fasting until I obtained my own Colour TV. By the I was rejoicing in the fact that I was a proud owner of a Colour TV, my friends have added Video Player to their TV set.

By faith, I started piling up video cassettes tapes hoping that one day I would be able to purchase my own video player. Finally, the D-Day came and I installed my own video player. It was then time to relax after supper and watch beautiful movies.

Presently I have many video tapes and compact discs that I have not played in years. Yet I still desire to buy more. It appears that More is Never Enough!

That reminds me of a Latin proverbs which says: “The Desire to have increases with having”. In my country, the landlord collects, from his tenants, three years rent in advance so that he can lay the foundations of more apartments to rent out.

A musician from the northern part of the country has this to say: “If you have 50 Houses, you can only sleep in one of them at any given time. And When you get into one of the Houses with 50 rooms, you can only sleep in one room at a time. And when you get into a room with 4 beds, you can only sleep on a bed at a time”.

And may we quickly add that when you lie on the bed, you either lie on your back, belly, left side or right side at a time. All your four sides cannot be on the bed at the same time. Remember that the same sleep that eventually catches up with you is the same sleep that the mad man under the bridge enjoys.

So, my friend, more is never enough. Seek the LORD JESUS, and HE will give you satisfaction with the little you possess right now.

CLASSES OF LIVING

IT is interesting to note that the world we live in is a world of two things:

Your reading this tract has already placed you in one of the two classes of literacy: Literate and Illiterate people.

In the world of motor vehicles, there are only two cars in the world: Mercedes Benz and the others.

When you think of brands of drinks, there are only two drinks: Coca Cola and the others.

In the realms of human beings, there are only two categories of people: Male and Female. And if you are concerned with age, then, you have the Young and the Old.

In a given institution of learning, you have two groups of students also: Those paying fees and those on scholarship.

In the Sports Stadium, some of the spectators entered free of charge while the majority paid through their noses to get a bleacher to sit on.

When you get into the market place, you are confronted with two types of people as well: Those buying and those who are there to sell.

In the prison yard, you have prisoners and warders. And in the country, we have uniformed people and those in mufti!

In religious circles, we have people who are righteous and those who are sinful. In the Law Courts, we have those who are Right and those who are Wrong. On a given farm land, we have the Crops and the Weeds.

On the Day of Judgement, we have a group of people who are going to Hell and those who will be welcomed in Heaven. In any congregation, we have those who are Saved and those who are Lost. The Saved are those whose sins have been written off while the Lost are those who have not accepted the free ride to Heaven as provided by the Creator GOD through the Person of JESUS the CHRIST.

You see, my friend, there are only two Religions in the World: CHRISTIANITY and the OTHERS. In the OTHERS, people are working hard in order to be saved. But in Christianity, the work for our Salvation has been completed when JESUS died and rose again from the dead.

Remember that there are only two Prophets in the world: JESUS and the others. While other prophets were born of Man&Woman, JESUS was born of a Virgin. JESUS never committed any sin, but HE forgave people their sins. JESUS healed the sick, raised the dead and promised those who receive HIM as LORD and SAVIOUR Eternal life in Heaven.

There are only two classes of people in the world: Those who receive JESUS and Those who reject HIM. To which class do you belong?

I Can’t Find No Satisfaction

I Can’t Find No Satisfaction

IT was the legendary British musical group called “The Beattles” who sang a song with the chorus: I can’t find no Satisfaction,
I have tried, I have tried!
For those of us who were of age in the sixties, we found this song very strange. The reason for our surprise was that since the world began there was no other musical group that took the world by storm. It was Beattlemania in Britain, continental Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas, Australia and New Zealand. The Youths of the world wanted to be like the Beattles. They popularized long hair, and good corporate suits on stage. They were admired by all and sundry.
Many upcoming Bands were fashioning their acts after the Beattles’. Some groups “copied” right while others “copied” wrongly the songs of the Beattles. Their songs were topping the charts week after week, for months unend. They won many awards, the ones they did not win were those they were not presented.
They had everything money could buy. They rode the fastest cars, live in glamorous mansions, had lots of friends of the opposite sex. When they sang “I can’t find no satisfaction”, we were taken aback. How could a group that boasted that they were more popular than JESUS CHRIST cry out to the entire world that they could not find satisfaction? Many could not understand their outcry.
However, what the Beattles felt after their triumphant entry into the music world was no surprise to those of us who were familiar with the inspired words of the Richest and the Wisest man in the world, His Royal Highness, Solomon David-Jesse, King of Israel (990 BC -930 BC).Read what Solomon says about worldy Riches, Pleasures and Pride:

“Everything I wanted I took I never said no to myself. I gave in to every impulse, held back nothing. I sucked the marrow of pleasure out of every task - my reward to myself for a hard day's work! 11 Then I took a good look at everything I'd done, looked at all the sweat and hard work. But when I looked, I saw nothing but smoke. Smoke and spitting into the wind. There was nothing to any of it. Nothing.
12 And then I took a hard look at what's smart and what's stupid. What's left to do after you've been king? That's a hard act to follow. You just do what you can, and that's it. 13 But I did see that it's better to be smart than stupid, just as light is better than darkness. 14 Even so, though the smart ones see where they're going and the stupid ones grope in the dark, they're all the same in the end. One fate for all and that's it.
15 When I realized that my fate's the same as the fool's, I had to ask myself, "So why bother being wise?" It's all smoke, nothing but smoke. 16 The smart and the stupid both disappear out of sight. In a day or two they're both forgotten. Yes, both the smart and the stupid die, and that's it.
17 I hate life. As far as I can see, what happens on earth is a bad business. It's smoke and spitting into the wind. 18 And I hated everything I'd accomplished and accumulated on this earth. I can't take it with me no, I have to leave it to whoever comes after me. 19 Whether they're worthy or worthless and who's to tell? - they'll take over the earthly results of my intense thinking and hard work. Smoke.
20 That's when I called it quits, gave up on anything that could be hoped for on this earth. 21 What's the point of working your fingers to the bone if you hand over what you worked for to someone who never lifted a finger for it? Smoke, that's what it is. A bad business from start to finish. 22 So what do you get from a life of hard labor? 23 Pain and grief from dawn to dusk. Never a decent night's rest. Nothing but smoke.” Ecclesiastes 2:10-23
My friend, it is high time you re-evaluated your life and find out the real purpose for which you were created. For a full answer, you have to turn your life over to JESUS. HE will give you a reason for being.

AFTER DEATH, WHAT NEXT?

AFTER DEATH, WHAT NEXT?

YES....We know that you

are not in town to watch the construction companies or the antics of the bus

conductors or the pupils wading in the side-road ponds.

You are in town to do business. You want to make as

much money as you can and can as much money as you can make. After that, you

want to set up a family, raise children and build a house.

After that, you intend to train your children, work

for a few more years and then retire. Obviously, you will grow old, ill and

finally go the way of mankind - die.

But after death, what next?

If you have lived a care free life, without any

regards to GOD and HIS will for your life, you will probably conclude that

there is nothing to look forward to after death: that is THERE IS NO LIFE AFTER

DEATH. If it is true that there is no life after death, then the thought must

be comforting to those who have lived a godless life. On the other hand, if

there is a GOD and there is life after death, then you must be ready to give an

account of your life to GOD on the judgement day.

Perhaps you belong to the group of people who believe

in re-incarnation. And you believe that you will have another chance at living

another and better life here on earth after this lack-lustre life is over.

That’s a good idea if it is true. However, since you

did not send yourself into this world in the first place, how are you sure you

will be sent back to this world a second time? Imagine that a wealthy man

hosted you in his guest

room for some days, and you messed up the rugs and the furniture. Then, at the

time of your departure, you apologized to your rich host and promised him that

the next time he invites you to his house, you are going to behave better with

his property.

You and I know fully well that the rich man will not

give you another chance. What gives you the idea that the CREATOR will send you

back to the earth to cause more heartaches to your fellow man?

Can you recount the number of people that you had to

shove aside, manipulate, intimidate, and even eliminate along the way as you

aspired to achieve your life’s ambitions? If it did not bother you, do you

think your victims’ Creator and Maker appreciate the way you destroyed His

creatures in order to satisfy your selfish desires?

Whether you like it or not, and whether you believe

it or not, there is a GOD to whom you will one day give an account of your life

here on earth. And you better believe it, it is certain that every man and

woman will die one day, after that comes the JUDGEMENT.

Unlike the other gods who have no definite plan of

salvation to reveal to you before death, the GOD of the BIBLE mentions the PLAN

OF YOUR SALVATION one hundred and eighty times. Indeed, you can call the HOLY

BIBLE the BOOK OF SALVATION. From Genesis through to the last book of

Revelation, the message is about how you can be saved from your numerous sins.

The GOD of the BIBLE does not want the death of any

sinner and does not recommend the killing of any unbeliever. Rather, He invites

the sinner to reason with GOD concerning the sins. The GOD of the BIBLE loves

the sinner, but hates sin. So, my friend, it is in time of peace that we plan

for war. It is while you are still breathing that you can ask JESUS to admit

you to Heaven when you die.
